IMG_1186Inspiring the scientists and research engineers of the future

The EcoFun team is always interested in recruiting highly motivated undergraduate and postgraduate students. INRAE is one of the largest public institutes for environmental research and provides a stimulating environment for those who want to pursue a scientific career. If you are an undergraduate or a postgraduate student (i.e. candidate for a BSc or MSc) and seeking an internship you can contact us here. We even have the occasional placements available for students from College and Lycee just contact us and see if we have something that would suit your interests.

Prospective PhD students

The EcoFun team is always interested in recruiting highly motivated PhD students. This year we have a PhD project opened for competition in the annual PhD competition at the Ecole Doctorale at The Université of Bordeaux on tree-mycorrhizal fungal interactions for more information. Do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in doing a PhD project with a member of our team.

Summer internships available

The ECOFUN team are generally happy to host a couple of students each year to help them obtain some interesting work experience and to assist us in some exciting projects that can even result in scientific publication.

Projects within the team vary from year to year :photo 5

  • Investigating the impact of Brassica plants on atmospheric chemistry.
  • Measuring the enzyme activity of plant litters from across a range of European arboreta.
  • Investigating the dynamic influence of soil hyphosphere communities on soil pH and gas fluxes.
  • Investigating the impact of mycorrhizal fungal association on weathering and tree productivity.
  • Investigating the impact of successive heatwaves on canopy temperature and evapotranspiration in the south west of France.
  • Investigating the isotopic signals of forest tree species and their relationships with plant metabolism.

If you would like to come and join our team for a few months over the summer period, complete a little ‘stage’ and gain some research experience then please contact Lisa Wingate.

INRAE attractiveness programme (annual call)

Each year, INRAE offers permanent positions through open competitions for either experienced research scientists (CR1), maître de conferences and research directors (DR2). These competitions are opened to any researcher with a PhD (or equivalent) and at least 4 years (CR1) or 8 years (DR2) of research experience.
